Select DateFly mag
I still think it's a nice idea.
i think it was about 5 months ago when the Fly mag came to me, and never got finished.
such a nice idea.
although, fundamentally flawed.
but nice anyway, honest.
an ecotainment superflyway magazine that lives in airports. it's the same size and shape as a boarding pass - but it's got loadsa nice things in.
boarding passes never have nice things in them.
Flymag does though.
but trees are precious and print media is not.
and it was such a nice idea.
it even had perferated postcards with nice stuff on.
shame.
well, it'll always be a nice memory...
R.I.P - Flymag
20/05/08 - never
so nice...
Shioda Kancho to visit our dojo
kind of a big deal
Yasuhisa Shioda Kancho, the Global Headmaster and son of Yoshinkan Aikido founder Gozo Shioda, will be visiting Malaysia next week.
and of course, we are his proud hosts...
it's an exciting time for Yoshinkan aikidoka here.
first up is a whole day seminar by kancho and his team of supermen, followed by a nice plate of raw fish and the likes at a swanky sit on the floor restaurant.
then on saturday we have a public demo at Sunway Lagoon...lots of our friends getting thrown about and fighting with swords.
should be fun.
nay, an aikido master is coming to visit us...
should be a few days never to be forgotten.
domo arigato gozaimasu shioda kancho..
OSU!!
YAM website here
hehe, i designed the leaflet ;)
Spike Lee's bodyguard
you dun mess with the 'White Shadow'. Oh no...
wooooo!!!
i was invited to the Global Brand Forum in Singapore a few weeks ago.
It's a huge conference with lotsa high profile speakers talking about the future of branding.
but not only did i get to go and pick up valuable wisdom about work related nonsense...i also got to be Spike Lee's personal aide and bodyguard!
it's true! i am officially the 'White Shadow', handsome ninja and bodyguard to hollywood directors [and whoever else wants or needs it]
so that was great.
i followed him around and elbowed all the adoring fans out of the way, documented his stay on my camerabox and mocked him at every opportunity.
i told him his best movie was Being John Malkovich - he didn't laugh.
i told him he was great in The Matrix - he was not impressed.
i congratualted him on winning the oscar for Driving Miss Daisy - he almost flipped.
i always thought that Spike Lee had a sense of humour...oh well...
but then we went and drank champagne and bogled in some swanky singapore club.
and it was great!
so, any A-listers out there loking for a lone ronin for protection in SE Asia...do consider my services, thanks ;)
Sp[iz]ike Lee at the mercy of me camera - well taken care of, largely unimpressed.
the ushera experiment
banyak gambar cantik!
in an attempt to stock up me folio and make a whole load of new portraits, i've recently been shooting my sexy singer friend 'ushera'.
she's quite the lovely.
so we thought about playing with lots of different styles and characters. from bikini clad to kung-fu bitch - to sci-fi cartoon - and it's so much fun!
countless shoots and innumerable costume changes later...and the results are...mmmmm...
sedap gila betul.
stay tuned for the launch of the ushera website, but in the meantime, checkout the hotness below :D
ushera hotness. straight outta some sci-fi comic
bought a sword
worth every penny
aikido is the open hand manifestation of japanese sword-play. duno if you knew that.
anyhoos, so after training with a bokken for months on end, i decided it was time to fulfill a life-long ambition and buy a katana blade.
so i did. and it's bloody lovely.
it's considered 'ornamental' but it's more orna TOTALLY mental!
...and so damn sharp i can slice paper and bamboo poles like they were small dogs ears.
must practice more though, don't wana be slicing any fingers by accident.
so, here's to me beautiful new sword, and in the traditions of the samurai code, i gave it a name - 'shinryu'.
osu!
not as clumsy or random as a blaster...An elegant weapon, for a more civilised age.
